Through your support, we can expand our frequency into the West Valley.

The Story Unfolds:

Walt Richardson, born to the legacy of a Tuskegee Airman, found his calling early in life. Inspired by musical legends like The Beatles, Bob Marley, and Stevie Wonder, Richardson’s journey led him from the Philippines to the streets of Tempe, Arizona, where he became a key figure in the local music scene. His passion for healing through music became a driving force, leading him to create festivals that raised funds for nonprofit organizations.

DSM recognized Richardson’s commitment to community and music, making him an integral part of their mission. He has served on the board for DSM since its culmination. Through the platform of KRDP 90.7 FM, Richardson’s soulful tunes and dedication to cultural diversity became a beacon for the community in the East Valley. However, the reach of KRDP is currently limited, echoing only through the East Valley’s streets. We need your support to expand our reach!

The Vision:

Desert Soul Media envisions a broader reach for KRDP 90.7 FM, echoing the harmonies of jazz, blues, R&B, and soul across the entire Phoenix metropolitan area. This expansion will create a space for underrepresented cultures to share their stories, fostering unity and understanding.

To turn this vision into reality, DSM is hosting “Celebrating A Living Legend: 70^th Birthday Celebration,” a fundraising event to support the expansion of KRDP 90.7 FM. The event will celebrate the musical journey of Walt Richardson, showcasing his contributions to the Arizona music scene and his commitment to community building.

The fundraiser will feature live performances by Richardson himself, sharing the stage with local talents touched by his mentorship. Attendees will experience the magic of Richardson’s folk, rock, reggae, and R&B fusion, creating an atmosphere of unity and joy.
